Dawn and family,
I’m so sorry about the tremendous loss of your beloved husband, Bob. I didn’t know Bob well but I could see his love of life in all that he did here at the 4-plex. He was a hard worker, yet always had a joke or riddle to share with the tenants here or the neighbor’s children. He took pride in making the lawn look sharp when he mowed. I will miss seeing him. He was a good and loyal man.

My heart is broken. Such an incredible man. Always putting others before him. So kind and generous and always right there with a joke. At least we all know now that cows drink water. I will forever treasure my Cancun trip with you and Dawn. RIP Bob. You are loved and missed.

Dawn and family,
Chas and I (Paula) are truly saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. I have such fond memories of him. He was my first Navy Chief and he had a dramatic impact on my life. I was a brand new Ensign in 1986 and he took me under his wing and taught me the ropes, including how to play liars poker at the Chiefs club in Pensacola. He was a true mentor and took care of his Sailors. Bob truly lived the motto of honor, courage and commitment. This world has lost Bob, but the Lord has gained him for eternity. And boy, I hope there’s a sense of humor in heaven so Bob can try out his jokes on a new crowd. He will be missed by all who knew him.

My heart goes out to his wife Dawn and other family members. Bob was a superb Navy man. He was an outstanding Yeoman and worked extremely hard on the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. We kept in close contact with each other after our retirement from the Naval Service. I will miss his computer humor and jokes. Fair winds shipmate.

I know Bob from his stop ins at my work. My good friend knows him because he passes by her work. We readily exchange his jokes and it’s kind of a big win when you hear a new one first. My children know when he’s stopped in too, I love sharing his jokes with them. Thanks Bob, for being such a light. I will truly miss seeing you, your smile and humor.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.

To the family,
I thought it would be nice to share a little memory that I have of Robert Potts.
I was a co-worker of Rachael at Ham Lake and she was one of the hardest and smartest working people I have worked with. I’m sure she got that from her dad.
I only had a couple interactions with Robert Potts – one of the times I remember was (of course) him telling me a joke. He got me. I was at work when he called and he asked if he could tell a joke- It was a cow joke – he asked, “how do you spell silk?” Me ” S-I-L-K” Him “what do cows drink” Me: “milk” Him: OH really, I thought they drink water?!! He got me, and made me laugh :D. I told Rachael this story right when I got off the phone, she laughed and already knew the joke and shook her head. I could tell she was used to her dad humor. It was cute to see.
